Thank you to the creative designers of the "Trans-Canada Blocks", they made this quilt a pleasure to put together.” Second place prize: Northcott Fabric- $125 value The above quilt was designed and pieced by Brenda Davidson Payer and quilted by Trudy Dey. Words from Brenda, “My military family - maternal grandfather, my father and my two brothers - are the inspiration for my valour quilt. I wanted the poppies to represent WW1 and the tulips to represent WW2. The falling leaves represent our fallen soldiers and the green leaves represent our soldiers of present day. The medal is the medal of valour and the Morse code says valour. My father was in the signal corps and the Morse code is for him. This quilt is an emotional one - made with heart and soul to comfort the heart and soul.” Third place prize: selection of Northcott Fabric- $75 The above quilt was designed and pieced by John Cameron, from one veteran to another. Quilted by Mazy Matuschewski. Toque patterns from Heather's Fabric Shelf (Kamloops, BC), and Maple Leaf patterns from Katja's Quilt Shoppe (Kamloops, BC). Words from John, “I started quilting five years ago on my own and it was at Heather's request that I make a quilt to donate.”
