Linda has loved the beach since she was a child! From when she was a teenager, she enjoyed visiting the islands of the Caribbean! She recently moved from Central New Jersey to Palm Bay, Florida. Her first collection with Banyan Batiks appropriately called Island Vibes, which brings together the beautiful colors of the islands.
Linda was a paralegal for 25 years and also showed barrel racing horses on the national circuit winning numerous local, state and regional championships! She began quilting in 1993 and teaching in 1994! She did not come from a sewing background, so she was pretty much self-taught. Her design and teaching styles have developed over the years.
Her first book "New York Beauty Simplified" was published by AQS Publishing in 2011. This book has been a best seller and was also awarded a Bronze Medal in the Independent Publishers Living Now Book Awards. Her unique technique for creating perfect New York Beauty blocks using just one pin, with no puckers and no cussing, has empowered thousands of quilters! The follow-up book "New York Beauty Diversified" was published in 2013 and won a Gold Medal in the same awards program. The third book in the series, "New York Beauty Electrified" (FoxChapel 2019) is scheduled for a mid-2019 release - and takes this versatile block into a whole new direction....think beach crabs, spiders, butterflies and more!!!
Linda loves playing with blocks! She enjoys taking a specific block and seeing the different ways you can make it, and also the different designs you can make WITH IT! This direction was the basis for her next two books with AQS Publishing, Rock that Quilt Block - Weathervane (Gold Medal winner) and Rock that Quilt Block - Hourglass. Her fifth book with AQS Publishing is Quilt Match Up - Cash vs. Stash, another award winner. This book offers two versions of each quilt project, a "cash" version (purchased yardage) and then one made from your stash.
She has taught at most major quilt shows across the country, many more than once, such as Houston Quilt Festival, AQS Paducah, Vermont Quilt Festival, Quilt Odyssey, Road to California, to name a few. She has taught on several quilt cruises, and also in Bermuda twice. Linda brings a laid back, relaxing style to her classes. Her passion is infectious! She truly enjoys what she does!
When she is not on the road, Linda can be found in her local gym and community centers where she is a Zumba (R) Fitness instructor. She holds several Zumba specialty licenses including Zumba Gold, Zumba Toning, Zumba Sentao, Zumba Kids and Aqua Zumba. She also enjoys floating in her pool while sipping on an icy adult beverage!
