Racquel Martindale grew up in an energetic family who loved nature and its creatures. With her father in Landscaping and a mother who always encouraged her kids to be creative and follow their dreams, she was drawing animals, people and flowers at the early age of 4. Through numerous moves around Ontario, one thing stayed the same- her love for art. After so many years of sketching and painting while running around outdoors, she realized this is the path she was meant to take. After buying her first drawing tablet at 14, she took quickly to the world of digital art- creating colorful characters with effects she could never achieve traditionally.
With a desire to expand her skills into the world of digital art further, she studied at Humber College and graduated from the 3D Animation, Art & Design program. The program covered a broad range of innovative new skills, but one she took to particularly well was creating digital textures and shaders to use in 3D space- for videogames and interior design. When the opportunity came to work at Northcott and see her previously digital textures become real textiles, she jumped in. Racquel now enjoys the incredibly rewarding experience of seeing her designs come to life, particularly the beautiful flowers that remind her of her childhood running through beautiful gardens.
