Kate made her first quilt as a teenager for a cousin’s baby. She continued to make quilts over the years in between the demands of college, career, marriage and kids.
In 2003, she opened Seams Like a Dream Quilt Designs; a quilt pattern company with Elizabeth Balderrama. Kate designed the patterns while working full time as a nurse and caring for her family.
In 2012, Kate and her husband moved from their hometown in Connecticut to Colorado. She decided to spend more time on her quilt business. She now has a class on Craftsy, designs quilts for fabric companies and magazines as well as for Seams Like a Dream. Kate and Elizabeth’s first book came out in 2015 with C&T Publishing called Smash Your Precut Stash.
Kate hopes to keep having fun doing what she loves: designing quits, making quilts, talking about quilts and hanging out with quilters!
Kate lives in Centennial, CO with her husband Jim and their cat, Lily. When Kate is not quilting, she is often found trekking around the Colorado countryside.
