Diane Knott

Celebrated artist, quilter and embroidery designer Diane Knott was born in Olean, New York.  She cannot remember a time when she didn't want to be an artist.  After studying fine art and advertising in New Jersey, Diane began a career as an award winning artist.

As owner of the Pumpkin Basket Needlework Shop, Diane created many embroidery patterns and taught fancy embroidery stitches to her customers.  Although embroidery continues to be a relaxing hobby, she has directed her creative energy to painting in watercolors and acrylics.  Her artwork has been featured on a wide variety of products including ceramics, stationary, calendars, house flags, throws and placemats.

Diane has always had a passion for textiles and has been a quilter for more than forty years.  She and her daughter, Holly Knott, collaborated on their book “Quilted Garden Delights,” published by C&T Publishing.  Holly used Diane’s watercolor garden paintings as the inspiration for the appliqued quilts featured in the book.  Additionally, she has had dozens of successful fabric collections.
When not painting, Diane enjoys photography, reading, and traveling with her husband.  She and her husband George have two daughters, Holly and Danielle.  They live in a small cottage situated in the beautiful mountains of Pennsylvania. Her garden, the lush hills and valleys, the farms and the woods that surround her serve as a constant source of inspiration.
