Mint Blossom is a creative brand with an innovative approach to design and color that was conceived by two talented designers. Kari Valen Jarl and Hye Won Yi share a passion for creating art that reflects the beauty in nature and the world around them. Although they have varied backgrounds and professional experiences, they share a common vision. The idea of pursuing their passion together was realized while they were working at Target Corporation, developing top selling patterns for home decor.

Kari started sewing at an early age and has always loved working with fabric; whether it is quilting, clothing, or home design. She earned a BFA in Apparel Design from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. When she’s not working on textile design, Kari enjoys spending time with her three children, working in her gardens and tending to the vineyard that she and her husband Joe planted on ten acres west of Minneapolis.

Hye Won Yi, a textile designer, illustrator, and graphic designer with a BFA in Illustration from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design has received several awards from The Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles. In addition to textile design, she has illustrated a number of children’s books for Picture Window Books. Her love of travel, passion for design and positive, light-hearted personality is reflected in her whimsical artwork.

The creative collaboration between Kari and Hye Won Yi radiates in their fresh and youthful approach to design.
