Janet was introduced to fabrics as a youngster when she began sewing doll clothes. At the age of twelve she began making her own school clothes, which continued throughout her life. At Brigham Young University Janet majored in Textiles and Fashion Merchandising, adding technical knowledge to her creative talent. As an adult, designing and sewing became Janet’s therapy, a blissful oasis in the wonderful chaos of family life and her responsibilities as a wife and mother of five children.
Due to the number of people at the local fabric store who enjoyed her unique designs, she began teaching classes based on her creations. In 1995, she started Scraps of Time, producing patterns and publishing books featuring her designs. She has enjoyed the additional opportunity to render her design ideas onto fabric for Northcott.
